How to Get the Original Window Sticker for Any Vehicle (Free)

If you’re buying a new car, odds are high that you’ll take a look at the vehicle’s window sticker (also known as the Monroney Sticker). Window stickers are federally mandated to be displayed on all new cars, trucks, and SUVs. Used vehicles however are a different story.

Buying a used car can be incredibly challenging (especially buying a car in 2021). Knowing that the used vehicle you’re looking at has all the features and options you want is much more difficult than you would assume. If you ask the dealership for a copy of the original window sticker, don’t be surprised if they give you a dumbfounded look. Having the original window stickers for a used car is a rarity.

Fortunately, one of our community members made us aware of a work around to get your hands on the original window sticker of nearly any vehicle.

This site will allow you to get 10 stickers/month for free per email address. It covers some of the models not listed above. After 10 in a month though, you’ll have to pay for a package.

While not providing the true Monroney Sticker, you can find the complete build specifications for a Mercedes by entering the VIN at https://www.lastvin.com/

Your readers should know that WithClutch (and other organizations that provide the same service) do not and cannot provide the original window sticker for any vehicle, unless they’re standing next to the vehicle with a camera. Instead, what they do is to re-create the original Munroney sticker from publicly available information formatted to look like the actual Monroney sticker. I’m not accusing this well-intentioned organization of dishonesty, and there’s no reason to suspect any dishonesty. But it’s important to know that the actual window sticker ‘might’ contain additional detail that might matter to a buyer.

Hey Steven! I run WithClutch, and just to clarify some of your comments. The window sticker we generate is 50% of the time from the original OEM and IS the 100% the true to life Window Sticker. Some OEM’s don’t have the original PDF or records in their database so we recreate the label from the OEM build codes (Toyota brands, BMW, Mercedes Brands, GM). Hope this is helpful and just to clarify.

Hi Chris, wondering where I can go to retrieve / RE-create a 2013 Cadillac we’re buying?
