YAA Extended Warranty
KIMBERLY âTHE FINANCE GURUâ
Avoid the Markup
The inventory of new and used vehicles is at a historic low nationwide, so protecting what you have is more important than ever before. An extended warranty, also known as vehicle service contracts (VSCs), saves you from paying for expensive repairs and keeps your vehicle safe and on the road.

Why should I purchase YAAâs Warranty Coverage?
Easy! You shouldnât pay more for the same exact coverage.
Hereâs the scoop: Extended warranties from dealerships are administered by a third party. Most dealerships will give their plans a brand name to make you feel more confident. Honda does it; Subaru, Toyota, Ford, and others do this, too. Dealerships can then mark up the price for their extended warranties, in some cases by thousands of dollars.
We donât believe in that. Instead, we apply a flat $500 markup to every warranty we offer. We can do this by cutting out the middle-person ⌠the insurance brokers.
Read the contract HERE.
Where can I use my extended warranty coverage?
You can take your vehicle to any dealership, AAA or ASE certified mechanic. Simply search online for âASE Certified mechanics near me.â
Is YAA's extended warranty the same as the dealershipâs?
Itâs identical. The only difference is price, and ours is significantly lower. More details belowâŚ
Isnât it better to buy a manufacturerâs extended warranty?
No. Thereâs no difference! Their extended warranties and ours offer identical mechanical coverage.
Hereâs the scoop: Extended warranties from a manufacturer are administered by a third party. Some manufacturers will give their plans a brand name to make you feel more confident.
Protect yourself before you protect your vehicle. Check the coverage and price before making your final decision.
Should I buy an extended warranty before my three-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty is up?
A warrantyâs price and choice of term is based on the vehicleâs age and mileage. Itâs most affordable for new vehicles and offers the widest selection of terms. Your coverage will overlap, but if you wait until your bumper-to-bumper warranty matures or ends, the prices go up and choices of term shrink. This explains why they’re cancellable. So, if youâre thinking about purchasing a warranty, act fast to get the best price and term.
Coverage and Repairs

MARIO âTHE RESEARCHERâ
Know before you buy
I recommend keeping your vehicleâs maintenance records, especially if you have it done outside of the dealership where you purchased it.
What's not covered under my extended warranty?
- Normal wear and tear
- Maintenance
- Tires and wheels
- Paint
- The interior
- Glass, rubber stripping, squeaks, and wind noises are not covered; see Section #8 on your contract (“What is Not Covered”)
Is my LCD screen covered?
It may be covered, depending on the issue. If the screen was punctured or scratched, like when itâs been tampered with or accidentally damaged, itâs not covered.
But if your screen isnât functioning properly, donât worry. The mechanic will take your dash apart to see if you need a new LCD screen. If you do, itâs covered along with all computers and electronics. So, if other electronics stop working, like your radio, the repair is covered. But if itâs damaged, such as when a radio knob is accidentally snapped off, it isnât.
Should I call in to AUL each time I need repair? What do I do if my vehicle needs a repair? What can I expect?
Never. Your service advisor will do that for you. When your vehicle isnât working properly, go to a certified service center and bring your policy with you so they can call in the claim.
Below is our recommendation on the steps you should take to make a claim:
- First, go to a dealership, or AAA or ASE certified service center
- Bring your policy with you to show to the service advisor
- To determine the issue(s), a diagnostic assessment will be made and the info will be given to you and AUL
- If the repair is covered, youâll only pay the deductible
- Learn more about the process on YouTube
Do I pay first and then get reimbursed?
No. Like most dealership administrators, AUL makes a direct payment to the repair facility for you.
Do I pay a deductible for every repair?
No. Thereâs a standard $100 deductible paid per repair order (RO). So, if there are four repairs on your RO, you pay one deductible.
Should I get my vehicle inspected if I purchase an extended warranty from you? If so, why?
You only need to provide us with a copy of your pre-purchase inspection report (PPI) if your vehicle is outside of its original factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. You can take your vehicle locally or use a national inspection service.
YAA makes this easy! We have partnered with LemonSquad to help our customers obtain a PPI in no time and at no cost! If you decide to move forward with YAAâs coverage, we will deduct their $179 cost from the total cost of your coverage.
NOTE: VSCs donât cover pre-existing conditions. If the inspection report shows a window isnât operating, it won’t be covered since it’s a pre-existing condition.

Who administers your extended warranty?
Our plans are managed by AUL Corporation, a nationally recognized, award-winning plan administrator with over 30 years of dealership experience and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. AUL is contractually backed by an âAâ rated carrier with over $32 billion in assets. After an extensive vetting process, we had the most confidence in AUL.
Do you have any surcharges?
Yes, in two cases surcharges may apply:
- A business use surcharge if you use your vehicle to work for Uber, Lyft, delivery services or if your vehicle is in a business name
- A lift surcharge if you have a lift kit that was professionally installed before you purchased the extended warranty
Can I cancel my extended warranty?
Absolutely.
If you cancel your extended warranty and paid up front, youâll receive a prorated refund based on time or miles, whichever is greater.
If you cancel your extended warranty and are paying monthly, you will simply need to give us 30 days notice so we can cancel your contract. No refund will be issued.
If you cancel your VSC within 60 days of purchase and no claims were made, youâll receive a full refund. A $50 administrative fee will apply.
