Having taken a test drive, started to talk numbers and become clear that the advertised price on the website (few grand off MSRP) was inclusive of various things that would not be applicable. Straight away I highlighted that was the price that got me in the door and wasn't happy with the ambiguity. They had evaluated the trade-in value and it had came in a little lower than I had wanted, but it was the mention of passing on the destination/delivery charge had me ask for my keys back as I was walking. I replied to a "thank you" text with a clear position on where I wanted to be that I was willing to work with them as it approached the end of the month and had a desirable trade to offer. Received a call back a few days later and they were prepared to get much closer and do a deal. I asked for a deal sheet to be emailed over, and upon review was able to advise we had a deal. Was at the lot within a few hours to get the car below MSRP and below the invoiced price of the vehicle (it was shown to me). Didn't get pushed into any accessories or body coating by the Sales person, which was greatly appreciated, and offered tentatively an extended warranty (at cost) in the Finance office which I poilitely declined. I think they cottoned on that I was a knowledgeable buyer as I had researched that 0% finance was on offer for this model, which I easily secured on the residual value.
The 2nd visit/purchase was much more pleasureable as we were able to dispense with the BS.... if only more dealership experiences could be like that from the get-go.|
